Dr. Laurent Coumel hat gemeinsam mit Benjamin Guichard und Walter Sperling das Sonderheft der Zeitschrift Le Mouvement Sociale herausgegeben. Das Sonderheft trägt den Titel: Présences du passé soviétique dans la Russie contemporaine. Darüber hinaus ist Dr. Laurent Coumel mit dem Beitrag Le corporatisme étudiant, matrice du mouvement écologiste russe (1960-2015), in diesem Heft vertreten.

Klaus Gestwa hat zwei Beiträge über den Zusammenbruch der Sowjetunion veröffentlicht

Prof. Dr. Klaus Gestwa hat in zwei längeren Beispielen die Ursachen für den Zusammenbruch der Sowjetunion erläutert und ist dabei auf zentrale umwelthistorische Sachverhalte eingegangen.

Agricultural expertise and power (19th-20th centuries).” Das Themenheft widmet sich drei thematischen Schwerpunkten: der Regulierung der Landnutzung, ökonomischen und politischen Interessen als Bestimmungsgrößen für Sachwissen sowie den daraus entstehenden Konflikten und Zwangsmäßigkeiten. Klaus Gestwa und Katja Bruisch führen in ihrer umfassenden Einleitung in das Themengebiet ein, reflektieren souverän den Forschungsstand und regen so weiterführende Studien an.

Prof Dr Klaus Gestwa and Dr Katja Bruisch edited the upcoming special issue of Cahiers du Monde Russe. The special issue is titled “Land, soil and people. Agricultural expertise and power (19th-20th centuries).” Three major topics are the focus of the latest special issue: the regulation of land use, economical and political interests as determinants of expertise, and resulting conflicts and constraints. Klaus Gestwa and Katja Bruisch wrote a comprehensive introduction in which they reflect on the current state of research and explore options of further research.

Auf der Webseite des Online-Journals “La Vie des Idées” wurde ein Beitrag von Dr. Laurent Coumel veröffentlicht. Der Artikel nimmt die sich zum dreißigsten Mal jährende Katastrophe von Tschernobyl zum Anlass und widmet sich davon ausgehend der Umweltgeschichte und den Umweltbewegungen in der späten Sowjetunion und dem postsowjetischen Russland.

The online journal “La Vie des Idées” published a contribution of Dr Laurent Coumel. Coumel uses the 30th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster as an opportunity to address the beginnings of the ecological movement and, in general, environmentalism in the late Soviet Union and post-Soviet Russia.

Tagungsbericht zu EcoGlobReg-Konferenz auf H-Soz-Kult

In der Ausgabe vom 15. Juni 2016 des Onlineportals H-Soz-Kult wurde ein Tagungsbericht zur EcoGlobReg-Konferenz “Tchernobyl – Impacts, Échos, Héritages Est-Ouest” veröffentlicht. Die Konferenz fand am 16. März in Paris statt und wurde von Melanie Arndt, Laurent Coumel und Marc Elie organisiert.

EcoGlobReg’s conference “Tchernobyl – Impacts, Échos, Héritages Est-Ouest”, which took place in Paris on 16 March 2016 and was organised by Melanie Arndt, Laurent Coumel and Marc Elie, was covered in H-Soz-Kult. The online portal of Berlin’s Humboldt Univeristy published a conference report in its issue of 15 June 2016.

Im Rahmen des online-Dossiers “Tschernobyl” der Bundeszentrale für politische Bildung ist ein Beitrag von Dr Melanie Arndt erschienen. Er beschäftigt sich mit den Auswirkungen Tschernobyls auf die deutsche Gesellschaft und trägt so den Titel “Auswirkungen der Katastrophe von Tschernobyl auf Deutschland.” Der Beitrag ist kostenlos über die Webseite der bpb verfügbar.


The German Federal Agency for Civic Education published an online dossier concerned with Chernobyl and its ramifications. As part of the dossier, the agency published Dr Melanie Arndt’s contribution “Auswirkungen der Katastrophe von Tschernobyl auf Deutschland” which is dealing with Chernobyl’s ramifications in Germany. The article is free and available online via the agency’s website.

“Von der Perestroika zur Katastroika” von Klaus Gestwa

In der neuen Ausgabe von Einsichten und Perspektiven (1|16) beschäftigt sich Prof. Dr. Klaus Gestwa mit der Zerfallsgeschichte der Sowjetunion in den 1980er Jahren. Der nun erschienene, erste Teil seines Beitrags trägt den Titel “Von der Perestroika zur Katastroika – Michail Gorbatschow und der Zerfall des Sowjetimperiums (Teil 1).”

In the latest volume of Einsichten und Perspektiven (1|16), Prof. Klaus Gestwa examines the breakdown of the Soviet Union during the 1980s. The now published first part of a two-piece series is titled “Von der Perestroika zur Katastroika – Michail Gorbatschow und der Zerfall des Sowjetimperiums (Teil 1).”

APuZ.12-13.2016Die neueste Ausgabe von Aus Politik und Zeitgeschichte (APuZ, 12-13/2016) befasst sich mit dem Thema “Energie Global.” 2016 ist auch das Jahr, in dem sich die Reaktorkatastrophe von Tschernobyl zum dreißigsten Mal jährt. Dr. Melanie Arndt veröffentlichte in der aktuellen APuZ-Ausgabe daher einen Beitrag mit dem Titel “Tschernobyl – die bekannte, unbekannte Katastrophe”, der die Katastrophe und ihre Folgen aufarbeitet.

Aus Politik und Zeitgeschichte (APuZ, 12-13/2016) published its latest volume concerning “Energie Global.” Thirty years ago, the catastrophic disaster of ill fame occured at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. That is why, as part of the latest volume of APuZ, Dr. Melanie Arndt published a paper titled “Tschernobyl – die bekannte, unbekannte Katastrophe” which deals with the catastrophe and its implications.

Buchvorstellung und Gespräch mit Melanie Arndt und Jürgen Trittin

Nach_Tschernobyl_Leipzig_190316(1)Dr. Melanie Arndt wird am 19. März 2016 das von ihr herausgegebene Buch “Politik und Gesellschaft nach Tschernobyl. (Ost-)Europäische Perspektiven” im Rahmen der Leipziger Buchmesse vorstellen. Als Gesprächspartner ist dazu Jürgen Trittin (Bündnis 90/Die Grünen) eingeladen. Das Gespräch findet im Zeitgeschichtlichen Forum (Grimmaische Straße 6) in Leipzig statt; der Eintritt ist frei.


As part of the Leipzig Book Fair, Dr Melanie Arndt will present and discuss her latest book concerning political and social ramifications of the Chernobyl disaster (“Politik und Gesellschaft nach Tschernobyl. (Ost-)Europäische Perspektiven”). She will discuss the book with former Federal Environmental Minister Jürgen Trittin (Bündnis 90/Die Grünen). The book launch will take place at the Zeitgeschichtliches Forum (Grimmaische Straße 6) in Leipzig on 19 March 2016. Admission is free.
